Michael Arciniega is best known for his realistic style collage illustrations and wall murals inspired by music, historical icons, pop culture, and nature. His portraits powerfully ground the soul in a person’s gaze, and span from the photorealistic to a unique process that captures an atmospheric lucidity of his subjects. His drawing practice will often merge into other mixed media work, which includes found objects and 3-D bas-reliefs created from foam and paper clay.
Art with Muscle was founded while Michael worked as a freelance illustrator for the fitness and music industry. Other commissions include merchandise for the Grateful Dead, CD jacket art, magazine and book art, business cards, as well as numerous portraits of people and pets. He is currently working on writing and illustrating children’s books.
Michael’s passion for civil justice is a strong source of inspiration. He served as a juvenile counselor and led an art-expression group for at-risk youth in Southern Oregon. Two of his wall murals, A Message of Peace” and “A Message of Hope” are located in the Jackson County Community Justice building, in Medford Oregon.
